KGON's 35 Year Anniversary Celebration!

In celebration of KGON being on air in Portland for 35 years, we have a whole year of exciting events planned, starting with our A to Z Classic Rock Marathon we did in January to our big Kidsgiving event coming up on Thursday, November 19th to benefit The Community Transitional School and The Oregon Food Bank.  Join KGON for our 10th Annual KidsGiving Celebration and our 2nd Annual Food Drive! We will be collecting food and broadcasting live at the Johnson Creek Fred Meyer on Thursday, November 19th from 7am until 7pm.  The address is 8955 SE 82nd Avenue in Portland.

Please join us and help children in need in our own backyard. KidsGiving is an
annual awareness and fundraising campaign dedicated to helping children who are most in need and most at risk in our community. This year, KGON is helping collect donations for the Oregon Food Bank and the Community Transitional School, a school helping children dealing with chronic poverty and homelessness.

The Community Transitional School is also raffling off a 2010 Chevy Camaro thanks to Car Chevy World! YOU have a chance to win it! KGON and The Trans-Siberian Orchestra have teamed up to help us with our annual Kidsgiving event!

Trans-Siberian Orchestra will donate $1 for every ticket sold to the Community Transitional School! Also, listeners who donate large amounts of non-perishable food to KGON for Kidsgiving can also win tickets to TSO! KGON teamed up with Team Latus Motors Harley Davidson in Gladstone and gave away a brand new Harley Davidson Rocker motorcycle, and we even threw in a 2005 Ford F250 Harley Davidson Edition quad cab super pick-up truck!

KGON was in the Starlight Parade on May 30th with our Ford Super Truck and Harley Davidson Rocker! We decorated our Harley with lights and Iris rode the bike through the parade! From June 19th until September 11th we gave away great prizes as part of the Crown Royal Ultimate Northwest Giveaway! Some of the prizes included guided fishing trips, golf clubs and beach getaways. On September 1st KGON had a small 35 Year Anniversary Party at the Oregon State Fair on top of the Jackman Long Building before the Doobie Brothers concert that included food, cake and champagne! 4 lucky listeners won a Meet and Greet with the Doobies with Iris Harrison. We also gave away tons of other prizes and the Doobie Brothers concert was definitely memorable.

KGON celebrated their 35 Year Anniversary the week of August 31st by giving away 35 pairs of tickets to the Def Leppard concert on September 11th! We even had a sectioned off area of the lawn at The Amphitheater at Clark County for the concert and the first 35 people to get to our section, won a KGON lawn chair.
