Pinballica!!!

Forget the Play Station and the XBOX. How about some old school pinball with Metallica? That's right, three slammin' machines bearing the band's name are scheduled to roll out next month. According to the band's website, prices will range from $4995-$7595. Hey! If the IRS was kind and kicked back some extra scratch to you this year, it might be a nice little splurg. Of course, your Metallica lovin' friends may never want to leave your place. Check out the machines for your self at the link.

Steve Lukather's solo Transition

Hi there...Steve Lukather is not only the co founder of Toto, he's recognized as one of the most talented and sought after guitarists on the planet. He's played on over 600 albums (no, that's not a typo) including recordings from Michael Jackson, Roger Waters, Don Henley, Stevie Nicks, Cheap Trick, and Miles Davis. In addition to all that, Steve is also an accomplished singer-songwriter and solo artist. His seventh solo album "Transition" has just been releasd..www.stevelukather.net  Guests on the album include, Phil Collen of Def Leppard, Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Chickenfoot, Greg Bissonette, Lee Sklar and Steve's long time collaborator C.J. Vanston just to name a few. This is going to be a very busy year for Steve as he gets set to hit the road with his own band in support of Transition, as well as another go 'round with Ringo Starr's All Star Band and the 35th anniversary of Toto. It was my pleasure to chat with Steve about the new album and all that 2013 holds. I hope you enjoy it!

Hoey Holiday and Blues

It's been quite a busy year for guitarist Gary Hoey. He recently released his first blues CD, Deja Blues, with original tracks and outstanding covers of Born Under a Bad Sign and Goin' Down. It's available through his website, www.garyhoey.com.  As a holiday treat, fans can register to win an autographed guitar to be given away on Christmas Day. His new CD isn't all that he's been up in 2012. Gary also co wrote and produced Lita Ford's latest CD Living Like a Runaway, and he's currently on the road with his annual HO HO HOEY holiday tour. Gary is a truly friendy, outgoing and cool guy. But don't just take my word for it. Listen in on our recent conversation right here.

Bruuuccee!!!!!

Hi there!!..I've been enthralled lately reading the latest biography on Bruce Springsteen entitled "Bruce" by Peter Ames Carlin. And since we're just two short days from Bruce and The E Street Band at the Rose Garden, I thought this would be a good time to share this review from the Boston Globe. It's just my humble opinion, but if you're a fan, give this book a go.

Celebrating Zeppelin

Five years after Led Zeppelin's historic reunion in London, the concert film and album "Celebration Day" lands in stores today. I had the privelege to speak with the film's director Dick Carruthers, a fascinating gentleman, who's enthusiasm for the project is obvious. And why not?, he's directed what very well could be one of the greatest concert films of all time. Check it out!

Kidsgiving is Here!!

Hi all!!...Tomorrow is a big day for all of us here at KGON, actually it's THE BEST day, our annual KIDSGIVING event to benefit the Community Transitional School and the Oregon Food Bank. Come join Iris, Amy the KGON'sider, Concert Dave, myself and the KGON crew at the Farmington Thriftway Store, 17675 SW Farmington Rd. in Aloha from 9am-7pm. We've joined up with Western Family Foods for this year's event, as we collect donations of non perishable food items and money to help those less fortunate in our community this holiday season. Who knows, you might walk away with a KGON t-shirt, a CD, DVD or maybe tickets to see TSO for your generosity. Hope to see you there...Happy Holidays!

Thoughts on 11/6/12

Hi all!!...Well here we are, November 6th, and as I rolled out of the rack to start my day, some random thoughts entered my  brain space as millions of voters head to the polls. First off, I hope you had/have the opportunity to cast your vote, it's the strongest statement we can make. Second, has it really been 18 months since all this craziness started?..Yes it has, no wonder I'm exhausted!.. Third, how can I make this evening more interesting, entertaining and enjoyable instead of frustrating, maddening and making me feel like smashing my t.v.?...BEER!..Fourth, why do people who are highly educated, intelligent and want to lead this country often act like little whiny jerk wads? And finally..after today, NO MORE POLITICAL ADS, JUNK MAIL OR ROBO CALLS...HAPPY ELECTION DAY!!
