KGON's Salute to Veterans 2011

92.3 KGON is proud to announce our 12th annual Charity Fundraiser-
"Salute to Veterans."

This year,  we are supporting the
Oregon Partnership's Military Helpline
Anonymous, Free Help for Veterans, Members
of the Military and their Families.

The Military Helpline provides confidential and complication-free support for returning veterans and their families, and is a vital resource for those men and women who have given us so much. Now you have a chance to give back to them.

Reintegration back in to families, work and society can be very difficult, no matter how much our returning veterans have trained for it. The Military Helpline is here to assist them in gaining access to the resources they deserve along with anonymous, confidential crisis intervention and sensitivity to military-specific issues.

Please join us on Thursday, November 17th from 10am through 7pm for our Salute to Veterans fundraising drive that will directly support the Military Helpline, returning veterans and their families.

In addition to accepting donations in support of our veterans and their families, KGON will also have several auction packages that the public can bid on between 10am and 7pm, including autographed guitars, concert tickets and more. Thanks to our partners, without whom this fundraiser would be much less exciting. Apple Music Row for providing guitars and amps, Papa John's Pizza for providing lunch and 20 free large pizzas, and Outback Steakhouse for providing dinner and gift certificates just in time for the holidays. We can't possibly thank you enough.

About the Military Helpline:
Military service members, veterans and their families may encounter obstacles to accessing services that they find difficult to overcome. This sensation, along with concerns about confidentiality may stop them from using services at all.

The Military Helpline bridges the access-to-service gap. This line helps veterans gain access to resources they deserve along with anonymous, confidential crisis intervention and sensitivity to military-specific issues. Volunteers also help navigate the military system for all forms of assistance and benefits.

The Military Helpline, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, provides compassionate, confidential crisis intervention and referral among the military community.

The line is answered by a highly trained staff and a dedicated team of volunteer crisis workers, many of whom have a military background. All possess a strong understanding of the serious issues that can impact soldiers and their families, including the loss of a job, family strife, home foreclosure, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other medical and health care concerns.
