Lights, trees, action!

I'm back from a wonderful holiday, and ready for more.  Here's some things to do around the Portland area and beyond!  Enjoy!

Here’s several community tree-lighting ceremonies:

             Dec. 1 - Tualatin

             Dec. 2 - Alberta Main Street

             Dec. 2 - Beaverton

             Dec. 2 - Milwaukie (and the Umbrella Parade)

             Dec. 2 - Oregon City

             Dec. 2 - Alberta Main Street

Dec 1: Hood River Holidays kicks off with a 6pm parade on Oak Street, followed by carolers and a tree lighting at Overlook Memorial Park at 7 p.m. Free.

Dec 1 – 10: Scrooge: The Musical is a community theater show for only $10 at Sellwood Playhouse.

Dec 1 – 21: The Annual Christmas Ship Parade, with 50 boats with Christmas lights cruise the Columbia River and the Willamette River.

Dec 2: Gingerbread Jamboree at Hilton Portland. Build a gingerbread house to take home, visit the hot chocolate bar, and get a photo with Santa Claus.  

Now - Dec. 28: The Train to Christmas Town, with a visit from Santa and his elves.  It’s a 75-minute train ride along the Columbia River.  With cocoa, cookies and music.

Now - Dec. 16: Festival of Trees at Divine Consign in Vancouver.

Now - Dec. 31(4 to 9 p.m.): Lighting of Maddax Woods, 5785 River Street in West Linn. Follow colorful lights through the woods to a viewing platform on the Willamette.

Now - Dec 3:  Portland’s Singing Christmas Tree with a 300-voice choir singing holiday songs, plus dancers, a cinematic Nativity, and Santa at Keller Auditorium.

Now - 26 and Dec. 1 – 3: America’s Largest Christmas Bazaar has 400 booths of juried handcrafted items plus 500 booths of commercial holiday products at Portland Expo Center.

Dec. 2 – 17: Holiday Express Train.  Take a one-hour ride along the Willamette River and meet Santa on the decorated train going roundtrip from 7805 SE Oaks Park Way. 

Now - Dec. 26: Winter Wonderland has 250 colorful displays at Portland International Raceway. Drive through.  Billed as the largest light show in the Northwest.

Now - Dec. 30: Christmas Festival of Lights at The Grotto.  Features a walk among lights, choirs, carolers, a petting zoo, puppet shows, and hot chocolate. Closed December 25.

Now - Dec. 31: Christmas in the Garden at Oregon Garden in Silverton.   600,000 lights, music, a Christmas market, ice skating, snowless tubing, and Santa. Closed Nov. 27, 28; Dec. 4, 5, 11, 12, 24, 25.

Nov 27- Jan. 7, 2018: ZooLights transforms the Oregon Zoo into a Winter Wonderland! Closed Dec. 24-25, and Jan. 1-4.

Nov 30 - Dec. 9:  The Nowhere Band plays a classic Beatles album at the White Album Xmas show, at Alberta Rose Theatre.  Jugglers, aerialists, and acrobats of The Portland Circus Allstars perform.

Nov 30 - Dec. 24: A Christmas Carol: The Musical at Brunish Theatre.
