Famed Beatles Yellow Submarine animator Ron Campbell will be appearing in Portland for a one man art show, Friday, March 31st  - Sunday, April 2nd at the Annie Meyer Gallery in Portland's Pearl District. Besides animating parts of Yellow Submarine, Ron also directed the TV Beatles Saturday morning cartoon series, helped develop Scooby Doo, worked ten years on the Smurfs and Rugrats as well as dozens of other classics such as the Flintstones, Jetsons, George of the Jungles, Ed, Edd & Eddy, Winnie the Pooh, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and on and on.  His show the Big Blue Marble earned him a Peabody Award and an Emmy. He is retired now after 50 years of TV cartoons.

In his retirement, Ron tours art galleries and showcases pop art paintings based on the cartoon characters that he was involved with throughout his 50 year career with an emphasis on the Beatles  These art shows are more than just showing his artwork, they are a fully immersive experiences to the patron.  While at the show, Ron creates new paintings while people watch him.  And the kicker is that if someone chooses to purchase one of his artworks, Ron paints an original sketch on the customers Certificate of Authenticity right before their eyes.  Then the customer takes a photo of their artwork with Ron to create a lasting memory.
