Earlier this week, Carlos Santana spoke to the Australian Associated Press about Adele winning big at Sunday’s 59th Annual Grammy Awards. And his comments weren’t exactly well-received.

In case you missed his comments, he explained, “I think that Adele won because she can sing-sing.” He then went on to say, “With all respect to our sister Beyoncé, Beyoncé is very beautiful to look at, and it’s more like modeling kind of music—music to model a dress—she’s not a singer-singer, with all respect to her.”

However, after getting flak from his comments, the GRAMMY-winning guitarist took to Facebook to apologize, stating “My intent was to congratulate Adele.” He then goes on to explain that his comments about Beyoncé were taken out of context.
