UFO Festival, Marys and Mimosas at OMSI, Train Day and more

May 17 – 19: The UFO Festival at McMenamins Hotel Oregon in McMinnville. A  costume parade Saturday at 2 p.m., speakers, a movie, live music, a 5K, and kids’ fun. 

Here's a little taste of what goes on if you've never been there.  Keeping Oregon Weird! 

May 18 (7 p.m., VIP 6 p.m.): Marys & Mimosas at OMSI. 21+  Ticket includes 6 drink tokens for bloody Mary’s and mimosas, plus 4 food tokens for brunch bites, and a chance to explore OMSI.

May 18 – 19: Questival is a 24-hour race that begins with a check-in party at Sellwood Riverfront Park. Your team of 2 to 6 people completes the challenges assigned by a smartphone app to win prizes. Video.

May 19 (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.): PDX Skincare Festival at OHSU includes free skin checks, a chance to meet cosmetologists and aestheticians, a 5K run/walk, presentations, exhibits, music, and dancers.  2730 SW Moody Avenue. Free.

May 19: Portland Train Day at Oregon Rail Heritage Center.  Games, live music, a free museum visit, steam trains on display, train rides, and food carts. Free.

May 19: The Red Dress Party in the basement of Veterans Memorial Coliseum

May 19 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.): Living History Day at Camp Withycombe. See historic and current military vehicles, uniforms, and equipment, and meet historians. Adults require ID. Free.

May 19: Warrior Dash at Pat’s Acres in Canby. Overcome mud, fire, ropes, and barricades for prizes and a t-shirt.

May 19: Spring Downtown Wine Walk in Seaside. Get a ticket and taste wines in local shops.  

May 19 – 20: Mt. Tabor Art Walk.  Visit local artists at two dozen locations.  Check out the map on their website. Free.

May 20: Southeast Portland Sunday Parkways.  Walk, bike, or roller-skate on 7 miles of streets when most cars are banned. Nearby parks offer activities & music. Free.
