2005 - Peter Jennings, the Canadian-born anchor of the A-B-C evening news for more than 20 years, dies of lung cancer at the age of 67.
2004 - Fay Wray, the actress who romanced "King Kong" in the greatest monkey movie of them all, dies in New York at the age of 96.

1970 - Creedence Clearwater Revival releases "Looking Out My Back Door" as a single.
1969 - The Beatles' Abbey Road cover photo is shot in London. It's full of what some fans believe are coded clues tied to the "Paul Is Dead" controversy. Two examples: he's seen in bare feet and holding a cigarette in the "wrong" hand, and the Volkswagen Beetle with the "28-IF" license plate.
1967 - George Harrison checks out San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury district during the Summer of Love.
1964 - Another Side of Bob Dylan is released.
1964 - Eric Burdon of The Animals tells Billboard about his group's name. The former Alan Price Combo was re-dubbed with a name that "was probably associated with the kind of music we play, earthy and gritty. It's sort of an animal sound, and on stage we can be pretty wild."
