2010 - Tiger Woods' marriage to Elin Nordegren officially comes to end. The mother of Tiger’s two children reportedly gets about $100 million in the divorce settlement.
 
2006- Z-Z Top is inducted into the Houston Hall of Fame.
 
1980 - AC/DC's Back in Black, the group's first album with new lead singer Brian Johnson, enters the charts. It will go on to sell over 19-million copies.
 
1975- Fleetwood Mac, the English band's first album with new American members Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, enters the Top 40 of the Billboard chart.
 
1970 - After a show at Max's Kansas City in New York, Lou Reed leaves The Velvet Underground. The band records and releases another album without him.
 
1969 - "Honky Tonk Women" by The Rolling Stones hits number-one in Billboard, where it spends four weeks.
 
1969 - Blind Faith's self-titled debut album enters the chart. It will hit number-one in September.
 
1969- Johnny Cash at San Quentin starts a four-week run at number-one on the Billboard album chart.
 
1968 - The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Chambers Brothers and Soft Machine play at the New York Rock Festival in Flushing Meadows, Queens.
While celebrating his 21st birthday with a drunken bash at a Holiday Inn in Flint, Michigan,
 
1967 - Who drummer Keith Moon knocks out a tooth (but not by driving a car into a pool, as was long reported.)
 
1966- The Beatles play New York's Shea Stadium. The crowd of 44-thousand is 11-thousand shy of a sellout. In The Beatles Anthology, John Lennon recalled, "You could never hear what we were doing. It would just become a sort of happening -- like Shea Stadium was a happening. You couldn't hear any music at all. That got boring. That's why we stopped it."
 
1965- Police turn fire hoses on Rolling Stones fans waiting for the group at a B-B-C T-V taping in Manchester.
 
1963 - The Beatles' "She Loves You," backed with "I'll Get You," is released in the U-K.
 
1962- John Lennon marries Cynthia Powell, who is already with child, at the Mount Pleasant Registry office in Liverpool. Paul McCartney is the best man. The couple has no time for a honeymoon -- The Beatles play that night at the Cavern Club in an atmosphere made hostile by jeering fans of ex-drummer Pete Best.
