2008 - The Allman Brothers Band postpone their annual run at New York's Beacon Theater because Gregg Allman is recovering from treatments for Hepatitis C.
2006 - The readers of F-H-M name Scarlett Johansson the Sexiest Woman in the World.
2003 - The Rolling Stones announce that they've cancelled their upcoming shows in Singapore --scheduled to take place the next two nights -- due to concern over the recent SARS outbreak in Southeast Asia.
1998- The Food and Drug Administration approves the impotence drug Viagra.
1992 - During a Zoo-TV concert in Detroit, U2 singer Bono notices an ad for pizza on the onstage TV monitors. He phones in an order for 10-thousand pepperoni pies for the audience, but only about 100 are actually delivered.
1986- Sammy Hagar does his first show as lead singer of Van Halen, in Shreveport, Lousiana.
1975 - Jerry Garcia is pulled over for speeding on the New Jersey Turnpike and arrested when police find drugs in his car.
1975- The Tommy movie premieres in London.
1973- Rolling Stone magazine reports that Carlos Santana, a disciple of guru Sri Chinmoy, has changed his name to Devadip, which means "the lamp of the light of the Supreme."
1966- Beatles John Lennon and Paul McCartney win the Ivor Novello Award for writing "Michelle," the most performed song in Britain in 1966.
1964 - Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits is released. 1967
A massive earthquake rocks Alaska.
1958 - Nikita Khrushchev becomes Premier of the Soviet Union.
