2010 - Conan O'Brien returns to late night, this time with Conan on TBS.
2006- Denise Richards beans a wheelchair-bound 80-year-old woman in British Columbia, Canada with a paparazzo's laptop computer she launches off the balcony of a hotel!
2005- Live 8 is released on D-V-D as a four-disc set.
2004- Cream announces plans to reunite briefly in 2005.
1995- The A-T-V Music publishing catalog, which contains most of The Beatles' songs, is acquired by Sony from Michael Jackson for 95-million-dollars.
1979- The Grateful Dead release Shakedown Street.
1975- Elton John's Rock of the Westies (featuring "Island Girl") starts a three-week run atop the Billboard album chart.
1971- Led Zeppelin Four, an album that does not have an official title or the band name on its cover, is released in the U-S.
1969- The second date on The Rolling Stones tour is the highest-grossing concert in Los Angeles to date, breaking a mark that been held by The Beatles.
1969- "Baby I'm for Real" by The Originals hits number-one on the Billboard R-&-B chart.
1969 - Led Zeppelin ends its fourth U-S tour (and fourth and final U-S tour of the year 1969) with the last date of a three-night-stand at Winterland in San Francisco.
1968 - Cynthia Lennon is granted a divorce from John on grounds of adultery and gets custody of their son, Julian. Rather than attend the proceeding, John is at a local hospital with Yoko Ono, who is suffering pregnancy complications.
1967 - Nilsson records Fred Neil's "Everybody's Talking" for his album Aerial Ballet. The song doesn't take off for a couple of years, until it is included on the soundtrack of Midnight Cowboy.
1966 - Ronald Reagan is elected governor of California.
1960 - Massachusetts Senator John F. Kennedy defeats Vice President Richard M. Nixon for the presidency.
1956- After considering 18,000 other possibilities, the Ford Motor Company names its new car the Edsel after Henry Ford's only son.
