2010 - Willie Nelson is arrested at a border patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas and charged with possession of six ounces of marijuana. He's taken to jail and released on $2,500 bail.
2006 - The Rolling Stones' A Bigger Bang tour is declared the biggest grossing tour of all time, with a take of 437-million dollars.
2004 - The Raspberries' original lineup reunites for the first time in 30 years to play at The House of Blues in Cleveland.
2002 - The second season of The Osbournes begins on M-T-V.
1993- U-2 performs in Sydney, Australia with a roadie filling in for bassist Adam Clayton who -- it is only acknowledged later -- is too hung over to play. It is the first time the quartet has ever gone on stage to perform a concert without one of its members.
1985 - The rights to Ronald Reagan's autobiography are acquired by Random House for three-million dollars.
1983 - A Brinks vault in London's Heathrow Airport is robbed by gunmen, who make off with 6,800 gold bars worth nearly 40-million dollars.
1983- Quiet Riot's Metal Health hits number-one.
1979- Fleetwood Mac, who are on the cover of that week's issue of People, kick off a nationwide tour at Idaho State University.
1977- The Sex Pistols' Never Mind the Bollocks is dethroned from the number-one spot on the U-K album chart by a T-V-advertised Bread compilation, The Sound of Bread.
1975 - Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme, a member of the Manson Family, is found guilty of trying to assassinate President Ford on September 5th.
1973- Elton John releases "Step Into Christmas."
1970- Chicago wrap up a 162-date tour at their hometown's Auditorium Theater.
1968- Cream plays its farewell concert at London's Royal Albert Hall.
1967- The Beatles' video for "Hello Goodbye" airs in the U-S for the first time, on The Ed Sullivan Show.
1962- The Beatles record "Please Please Me," their second British single, at Abbey Road in London.
