1991- Aerosmith appear as cartoon characters on The Simpsons. They play "Walk This Way" at Moe's Tavern.
1988- The Delicate Sound of Thunder, Pink Floyd's live album, is released.
1981- David Bowie and Queen's "Under Pressure" hits number-one on U-K singles chart.
1980 - An estimted 83-million viewers tune in to find out "who shot J-R?" on the C-B-S prime-time soap opera Dallas. "Kristin" is the character who fires the gun.
1980 - John Lennon and Yoko Ono pose nude for New York photographer Allan Tannenbaum. The pictures will later be used on a memorable cover of Rolling Stone.
1974 - Breaking his vow never to perform live with the band again, Marty Balin joins Jefferson Starship on stage at San Francisco's Winterland.
1973- President Richard M. Nixon's attorney admits that there is an 18 1/2 minute gap in one of the White House tape recordings related to the Watergate case.
1968 - The Moody Blues and Chicago Transit Authority begin a four-night stand at the Fillmore West in San Francisco.
1965 - The Rolling Stones, whose current hit is "Get Off of My Cloud," perform a Dallas-Fort Worth doubleheader. They give an afternoon concert at Will Rogers Auditorium in Fort Worth and an evening show at Dallas Memorial Auditorium.
1963- President John F. Kennedy arrives in San Antonio for a two-day tour of Texas.
1960 - George Harrison, 17 years old, is deported home to England from Germany. Hamburg law prohibits those under 18 from working in a nightclub -- which is where The Beatles are performing. John, Paul, Pete Best and Stu Sutcliffe continue on as a foursome at the Kaiserkeller.
1934- The New York Yankees purchase the contract of Joe Di Maggio from San Francisco of the Pacific Coast League.
1877 - Thomas Alva Edison announces the invention of the phonograph.
