JOHN DENSMORE, drummer and founding member of the DOORS visits MUSIC MILLENNIUM in Portland this Sunday, May 19th, signing copies of his new book "The Doors Unhinged". Had a quick chat with him on the phone. Nice guy! Here's what he had to say:
First, a big congrats to the PORTLAND WINTERHAWKS! Show your support at Pioneer Courthouse Square Tuesday at noon, as the team heads off to Saskatoon Friday for their shot at the Memorial Cup. Go HAWKS!
The week ahead holds all sorts of options to keep you busy. It's NATIONAL BIKE TO WORK WEEK. You might get a little wet. Showers off and on in the forecast, but nothing serious riders can't handle.
You can always go to a movie. ROCKSHOW, the concert film featuring PAUL MCCARTNEY & WINGS from the '75-'76 "Wings Over America" tour opens Wednesday at the Clinton St Theater and Century on 82nd in Portland, Century 16 Cedar Hills, & Liberty Theatre in Camas WA. I remember going to that show in Seattle for the opening of the Kingdome. First time I ever saw a laser light show. Can't believe the Kingdome's already gone.
If you have HBO, you can watch HEART and RUSH get inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Saturday night.
Celebs in town this week: NICK CANNON from "America's Got Talent" at the Helium Comedy Club Wednesday. BRYAN CALLEN from those "Hangover" movies, Thurs at the Helium
DAVID ALAN GRIER at the Bagdad Theatre Friday Night.
You might run into a few aliens at the 14th ANNUAL UFO FEST at McMenamin's Hotel Oregon in McMinnville Friday & Saturday. UFO parade, fun run, pet costume contest, alien costume ball and plenty of live music.
JOHN DENSMORE, drummer for the DOORS, comes to town for a book signing at Music Millennium on Sunday. I'll be talking to him on the phone tomorrow to get a few more details, so be sure and check back here later in the week.
And if you need an excuse to celebrate, light some birthday candles for:
STEVIE WONDER, PETE TOWNSHEND, DUSTY HILL, JACK BRUCE, JANET JACKSON, PHIL RUDD (AC/DC), MAGIC DICK (J Geils Band), BILL BRUFORD (YES), DAVID BYRNE (T.HEADS), actors: CATE BLANCHETT, PIERCE BROSNAN, HENRY FONDA, DENNIS HOPPER, Director/Producer GEORGE LUCAS and the first Mrs. SPRINGSTEEN, JULIANNE PHILLIPS (from Lake Oswego).
Enjoy the week and keep rockin'

What a weekend! Celebrations everywhere. Hope yours was fabulous. And it looks like this perfect weather's gonna continue for most of this week. Gonna be tough to get the mind into work mode.
Mother's Day's coming up Sunday. Don't wait until the last minute to make reservations. A few suggestions for the perfect Mother's Day gift:
If Mom needs a few laughs, there's BILL COSBY at the Schnitz or LOUIE ANDERSON at the Lucky Eagle Casino Saturday Night.
Do some rockin' and gamblin' at the Chinook Winds Casino with TESLA either Friday or Saturday.
Get out on the water and take Mom for brunch or dinner on the Portland Spirit or the Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler.
One of my favorite authors, PHILLIP MARGOLIN will be at Jan's Paperbacks in Tualatin signing copies of his latest book "Sleight of Hand" Thurs 7pm
And opening at the movies Friday, F.Scott Fitgerald's "THE GREAT GATSBY" in 3D starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire.
